There are some frozen gluten-free entrees that are so good that you buy them in bulk. I’m like this way with Organic Bistro’s bakes. Today I’ll be talking about my favorite entree – the Turkey Cheddar Bake.
It’s 260 calories for one bake, but it’s also a smaller portion. But it’s also got 14 grams of protein, something I need in order to keep full and keep going. These are just right for my lunch, because I’m snacking throughout the day (trying to snack on healthy things mind you). But if you’re into bigger lunches, you might want to upgrade to Organic Bistro’s other offerings.
I love this mostly for the awesome veggies and sauce. It’s got carrots, peas, potato, and red bell pepper. I honestly wouldn’t care if this was a vegetarian meal, although I’d need to get more protein. It’s so damn good! I’ve had almost all of the bakes and this is my favorite one (the Chicken Parmesan and Albacore Tuna fall second).
Here’s another pitfall of these – you can overcook them and turn them into a hard hot mess. Especially the turkey, it’s most likely to dry out. You’ve got to master the timing on these things. I usually do it for 5 minutes – between the 4 and 6 minutes that they recommend to cook. I used to do it for 6, but the turkey was pretty rock hard when I overcooked it.
