Being gluten free, do you ever wish that there were some products that were like Avon? Like, when you find something awesome that you buy in bulk and eat all the time and you wish that you could just sell it door-to-door? That you could tell everyone you know about it and get them to try it out? Well, I feel that way about Vega. It’s a Canadian company that makes nutrition shakes – and one of them is Vega One. It’s pretty tasty and pretty amazing for your body.
Currently there are some ads for Vega One on my site – that shows to you how much I love this product. I’m willing to advertise with them. I doubt I’ll ever get any commission from those ads, but that’s not the point. I love this product. And I want you to know how much I do.
I was recently told that I’m not getting enough protein in my diet. This came as no surprise to me because I rarely eat meat – I’m mostly just fish and eggs. I eat a lot of peanut butter, but when I was told I needed 10-20 grams of protein per meal, I realized I was very below that guideline. Luckily, I had found a protein shake that I really liked earlier that year at an expo. A company called Vega was giving away packets of their gluten-free nutritional shakes, as well as their gluten-free sport powder (more protein – less vitamin/nutritional stuff). I tried the chocolate and vanilla chai flavor and fell in love. I was determined to make this my new protein shake.
And then I went to Sprouts and saw the price. And that’s where the fairytale ended. Vega One is expensive. It’s $69.99 for 30-some oz., and each serving is 1.3 ounces – so yeah. It’s a pretty pricey habit. But I feel good about eating it, I feel like I’m giving my body what it wants – and giving myself a chai smoothie in return!
However, I talked to my nutritionist and it turns out that she drinks Vega One. She acknolwedged it’s price, but said how awesome it was. My friend who is a weight-lifting powerhouse also uses Vega. When Non-GFBF and I went to Sprouts, he purchased a product that was half the price and a somewhat comparable nutrition. However, he had to choke his down. Me? Well, I adore the taste of Vega One. And it turns out, he did too.
Obviously Vega One is gluten-free. Here’s the detail from the website: “All of our Vega products are gluten-free. In fact, they are free of common allergens such as dairy, yeast and soy. We use Elisa tests to check for parts per million (PPM) of gluten in our raw ingredients and finished products. Our standard for testing is less than 20 PPM, to comply with the Celiac Association recommendation.”
Here’s what the chai flavor looks like before it gets drowned in hemp milk!

I looked at their products when you posted about this on IG. I wish I could have legumes, because it sounds so TASTY and that kind of protein content would be stellar. I’ve been looking for hemp milk and not finding it locally. I may have to order some from VitaCost.
What should I mix vega choco nutritional shake with?
Anything! Nut milk, hemp milk, anything with a vanilla or plain flavor would be fine, but adding in a chocolate nut milk would make it awesome!
If some one wishes to be updated with most up-to-date technologies therefore he must be pay a quick visit this site

I just finished a 15 oz jar of the Vega One French Vanilla flavor and plan to purchase it again. It took me awhile for my stomach to get used to it, but now that I am I really love it. You can’t beat all the nutrition you’re getting with this protein powder. I haven’t tried it with hemp milk but will have to do that in the future. I usually mix with almond or coconut milk.
HI,
I’ve been using the chocolate one for a month and I had to stop because I kept getting bloated before dinner. I’m also Celiac so I was really relying on this product. I love the energy it gave me to exercise. Too bad I can’t have it anymore.
Is this product safe if you are on a restricted oxalate diet?
You should probably check with the brand for this kind of question.
i’m sorry the previous comment was an honest joke, please do not accept it on the website. i posted it by accident.
Great product, it actually fills me up and works as a meal replacement.

There could be cross-contamination(<20PPM) that can affect the most sensitive people.
Hi there. Just found your review after searching if this product was really GF; I tried for the first time a few hours ago & still feel sick, was pretty worried I got glutened 🙁 Anyone else have this experience? Haven’t been this sick in a long time.
I just had that same reaction
Yes, I’ve had this same problem. This was the only thing in my diet that was changed. I am hyper aware of everything I eat and what touches what. I went as far as not eating anything for the day and just drinking the shake. And of course I had gotten sick. I hadn’t gotten sick in the previous 10 months so I was sure I was just sensitive to it. It was the Vega sport peanut butter flavour. I’ve had the vanilla before with no problems at all. Not sure what the reasoning behind it is.
