Review: DermOrganic Gluten Free Haircare Line

The people at DermOrganic sent me a little sampling of their product after I contacted them when I saw a bottle of their conditioner at my local Marshall’s. It said gluten-free on the bottle, so I was naturally curious. Turns out they’re also vegan and don’t test on animals. The products don’t have any artificial preservatives, and are sulfate and gluten-free. There’s no sodium chloride, parabens, MEA, DEA or dyes.

Lots of fun samples from DermOrganic!

They offer several haircare products.

  • conditioning shampoo
  • masque conditioner (I also received a daily hydrating conditioner)
  • leave-in treatment

The leave-in treatment with argan oil

Vegan and paraben and gluten free, oh my!

Conditioning shampoo

The shampoo is safe for color-treated hair – it’s gentle and has argan oil in it as well. And the shampoo smells so good! It’s not as intense of a lather as I like, but I do like that it’s sulfate free, so you make compromises when you’re searching for what’s really good for your hair.

Ingredients: Aqua/Eau/D.Water, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate(1), Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate(2), Decyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Glucoside, Methyl Gluceth-20, Infusion of Argan Oil & Sunflower Seed Extract & Grape Seed Extract & Rice Amino Acid & Sodium PCA & Panthenol & Tocopheral Acetate (Vitamin E), Glycereth-2 Cocoate/Benzoic Acid (natural preservative), Fragrance.

Masque conditioner

The conditioner is thick and smells great. It really feels like it’s conditioning your hair. Like most intense conditioner, you’re supposed to leave it on for 3-5 minutes. I pair this with the argan oil leave-in treatment as a little moisturizing spa day for my hair!

Ingredients: Aqua/Eau/D.Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Stearyl Alcohol, Caprylic Capric Triglyceride, Argan Oil, Rice Amino Acid, infusion of Sunflower Seed Extract & Grape Seed Extract & Sodium PCA & Panthenol & Tocopheral Acetate (Vitamin E), Glycereth-2 Cocoate/Benzoic Acid (natural preservative), Fragrance.

Leave-in treatment

I loved the leave-in treatment with argan oil. It’s meant to nourish dry, damaged and colored hair, and it protects hair from styling heat and UV damage (great for my love of flat irons).

Ingredients: Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Argan Oil, Grapeseed Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) Glycereth-2 Cocoate/Benzoic Acid (Natural Preservative), Fragrance.

According to their website DermOrganic products are all vegan, made without animal by-products and are never tested on animals, contain no sulfates, glycols, DEA, MEA, dyes or food coloring, gluten-free, contain no artificial preservatives, paraben-free, made without salt, sodium chloride or other artificial thickeners, and uses Certified Organic Organic Argan Oil, Sunflower Seed Extract and Grape Seed Extract.
Although DermOrganic is a salon brand, I’ve found it at Marshall’s for a discount before, and apparently you can buy it on Amazon or Drugstore.com.
My favorite thing is that I actually feel like it’s really nourishing my hair. My second favorite thing is the scent. It’s gender neutral – almost manly or nature-oriented (I want to say sandlewood, but I’m not sure that’s exactly right). It just smells really great. It’s not fruity and it’s not fake smelling, it’s just a really nice experience.
Overall I give my test with DermOrganic a 4. I like knowing that what I’m purchasing is good for my hair, besides being gluten-free. If you manage to find this at Marshall’s like I did, don’t pass it up!

I have been using this product for about a month, it is by far the best product for my hair. I have celiac and was experiencing problems with regular shampoo and conditioners. SinceI have been using Dermorganic, my hair feels and looks so much healthier. Love it!!

That’s awesome! Good to see that people that have been using it for a long time like it as well. I’m really happy with the smell, and I love the masque! Where did you find it?

I’ve been using these products for about 6 months now and I will never use anything else, they’re made my hair in better condition than it ever has been! I found out I had severe gluten allergy (but not celiac) a couple of months ago – didn’t even realise that DermOrganic are gluten-free, it’s just the cherry on top for this haircare!
