Review: Gluten Free Kinnikinnick’s KinniKritters and Peanut Butter & Co. Dark Chocolate Dreams

Okay, so I’m first to admit that I don’t always eat the healthiest gluten-free things. And I’m totally okay with saying that I believe in the phrase “everything in moderation.” So I was feeling extra down on myself after not being able to drive for a week and being stuck at home after my surgery. So, I sat on the couch and made my favorite snack. Sandwich cookies made with KinniKritters and Dark Chocolate Dreams from Peanut Butter & Co.

Kinnikinnick’s KinniKritters Animal Cookies

These cookies are more of a vanilla flavor, although they also make them in graham flavor and chocolate flavor. They don’t taste like the traditional gluten-full Barnum & Bailey animal crackers. Those were my FAVORITE as a kid and I haven’t really found anything that replicates that taste. But, they’re still awesome tasting!

They’re nut and dairy-free as well as gluten, casein, egg, and trans fat free too!

They retail online for $3.99 for 8 oz.

Ingredients: Sugar, Pea Starch, Potato Starch, non-Hydrogenated Shortening (palm fruit and/or canola), White Rice Flour, Tapioca Starch, Water, Glucose, Pea Protein, Salt, Pea Fibre, Vanilla Extract, Modified cellulose, Sodium Bicarbonate, Soy Lecithin, Inulin, Natural Color (glycerine, beta-carotene)

Dark Chocolate Dreams

It’s gluten-free, certified vegan and kosher, as well as non-GMO. We can’t get enough of this at our house. Yes, we know it’s probably a bit more caloric than other peanut butters but this is SO TASTY. I love this on Udi’s bread or just a tablespoon without anything at all. We might as well buy stock in this company at the rate we’re eating this stuff.

A jar retails online for $6.00 for 16 oz.

Ingredients: peanuts, evaporated cane juice, cocoa, cocoa butter, palm fruit oil, vanilla, lecithin (from sunflowers), salt.

I love Dark Chocolate Dreams! I put it in my morning gluten-free fruit smoothie to add extra protein (in addition to Greek Yogurt). Yes, between the fruit and the protein this has a ton of carbs and calories, but it is the perfect thing to get me going in the morning!
