By now you guys have heard how much I love Wholesome Chow – the organic, gluten-free vegan company that makes amazing cupcakes that are my new go-to party treat. You can read about my experiences with their cupcakes here.
Since then I’ve had a chance to buy and try many MANY of their products. They had a deal going with Fab.com and I bought way too much. And by way too much I mean not enough because although at first I was overwhelmed with endless bags of product – I’m all out and wishing I bought more now! I make these guys for EVERYTHING – every party or gathering. They’re vegan and gluten-free, so it’s nice to knock out two “picky” eater groups at once! Plus, I like eating vegan every now and then and I admire a company that believes in making vegan baking simple! Enough of my love affair of Wholesome Chow.
I used their organic all-purpose flour to make vegan maple pecan scones. Since they were vegan – I used all the subs that I could – nut milk, and “buttery spread.” it was awesome to not use any eggs or milk! It also makes it easier when you realize that you never have eggs on hand (I never do).
I was a little scared when I put it in the oven because I had never made scones before. But they smelled so amazing!
They came out PERFECT. Non-GFBF brought them to his office to show off to his vegan friends. They really liked them too! I felt like such a champion – I made vegan things that didn’t suck! I would highly recommend this all-purpose gluten-free flour!

Up next I made both the chocolate lavender and the regular lavender cupcakes. I know I know, you’re probably saying, “seriously a lavender cupcake?” I like lavender when I’m trying to relax in a bubble bath, but in a cupcake? But, I gave it a try – and I really liked them! They tasted so gourmet – so high-end! You don’t see lavender vegan cupcakes just every day. But how did they hold up to the “average” party guest? They liked them too! The lavender isn’t too overpowering, and it’s such a new awesome flavor. I like the chocolate a bit better than the vanilla lavender. Especially because there’s actually lavender flakes INSIDE the cupcake, which you can’t tell in the dark chocolate batter. It just weirded me out to have purple things floating in the batter. I also made the spice cake batter as well for a party and liked it too. The spice was very subtle – much like the lavender. I really enjoyed them all – but liked the chocolate and the spice mix the best.

Scones are one of my favorite foods in the world. A our work Christmas party, one of the girls brought scones. It was her Italian Grandmothers recipe. They were hard to resist. When I say your post I got excited again at the possibility of eating them again. Thank you!
I’m now a fan of Wholesome Chow, Thank you

Those scones look so good. Nice job making them vegan too! I’ve never tried Wholesome Chow and would love to.
I miss desserts so much and I’m allergic to soy and peanuts as well as gluten so these would be amazing seeing as how pretty much any dessert contains at least ONE of those!
