GLUTEN FREE PETS: CLOUD STAR GRAIN-FREE CAT TREATS
I’ve been around the cats for two years now – ever since Non-GFBF and I got together and melded our families together (his cats and my snake). My pet was already gluten-free (she just eats mice) and his cats loved gluten. They also love licking me, licking my food, etc. See the problem? I hated the fact that we still had gluten in the house and we had to handle it every day. Thankfully, we switched to gluten-free food about 6 months ago. We’re still trying to figure out what food they like the most (we have a picky child named Mushu). However, we’re fortunate that we’ve also found many grain-free/gluten-free cat treats along the way.
Cloud Star approached me about their grain-free pet treats and sent me a sample set of dog treats and cat treats for the kids. You can find them at www.cloudstar.com and can buy them at independent pet food stores and in the pet section of natural stores (you know, the kinds we go to that have a gluten-free aisle). And yes, they are the people that make those “Wag More Bark Less” stickers you see everywhere.
Luckily, their whole cat line are the Grain Free Buddy Biscuits for Cats. The MSRP is at $3.95 for a 3 oz. bag. I had three bags to try – Savory Turkey and Cheddar, Tender Chicken, and Tempting Tuna. They’re made with ingredients like meat (the first ingredients!), chickpea flour, potato flour, maple syrup, and tapioca starch. They’re 100% grain free and gluten-free. They’re also free of corn, soy, and eggs.
Their pet treats come in a range of flavors, but I have to say that the dogs have it better, with flavors like Slow Roasted Beef, Smooth Aged Cheddar, Rotisserie Chicken, and Homestyle Peanut Butter. You know – all the things that dogs love to steal off of your plate! For dogs they also offer Grain Free Oven Baked Buddy Biscuits dog treats that look like gingerbread cookies! I didn’t get to try these, but I think they’re adorable. They’re offered in many of the same flavors as the soft and chewy treats.
My basenjis tried the Dynamo Dog Treat functional grain-free treats. They have different treats that are for specific conditions like hip and joint, (in bacon and cheese as well as chicken) tummy in pumpkin and ginger flavor, and skin and coat (in salmon flavor. These “functional” treats have added items like glucosamine HCL and vitamin E. Some of their dog treats DO have gluten in them (the training treats and Wag More Bark Less line have barley flour and their original buddy biscuits have wheat flour) so make sure you’re buying the right treats.
Both set of kids (dog kids and cat kids) were excited about the treats. I was excited that there were safe treats on the market for grain-free pets and gluten-free households. However, the grain free moist treats that I got have to be refrigerated.
I would recommend these treats, although I don’t know what they taste like (sorry guys, I didn’t have the balls to eat them). I feel safe and comfortable serving these to my pets. They’re a family-owned company and their treats are made in the USA. Also, they donate to non-profits for animals, women, children, and the environment. High five! Or should I say, high paw.
I will be purchasing these again.

LOVE the pics!!!! I give Sebastian gluten free wet and dry food but haven’t found soft gluten-free treats yet. He won’t east the hard ones. Are these soft? Have a few I could try to see if Sebastian will eat them?
