If you’ve been gluten-free for any length of time, you’ve probably heard about or tasted a Bob’s Red Mill gluten-free product. While you may think of BRM as just oats, they have plenty of products across the entire gluten-free spectrum of yummies. They make pizza crusts, granola, cake mix, brownie mix, bread mix, flours, baking ingredients (baking soda, etc.) and yes – oats.
They debuted a bunch of new products at Natural Products Expo West 2014 and I finally got to see Bob in the flesh. I also got to see the whole band perform in the aisles of Expo West! On top of the granola we’ll talk about in a second, they also launched the pie crust mix and Scottish oatmeal – also detailed in a second – along with gluten-free ancient grains.

Bob’s Red Mill at Expo West 2014
On Wednesday May 7th, Pacific Foods hosted a Twitter party with Bob’s Red Mill. We talked all about Pacific Foods’ new single serve hemp and almond milk (yummy) and Bob’s Red Mill new gluten-free granola flavors: honey granola and blueberry apple granola.

But my favorite new product (and it’s new to me even though it launched months ago because I can never find it) – is the gluten-free pie crust. It’s easy enough for ME to do it, and that’s saying a lot. I made blueberry handpies using Spectrum shortening and Earth Balance soy-free butter replacement. They were delicious!

Another new Bob’s Red Mill favorite is the Scottish Oatmeal. Scottish oatmeal is the whole ground gluten-free oat – less smooth than a traditional oatmeal. It makes more of a grit-like product. I make mine with 3 tablespoons of oats and 5 tablespoons of rice milk. The rice milk is sweet enough for me that I don’t need to add anything to it. I’m addicted!

Awesome giveaways for GF month!
I love to bake with these products. Even though I am not the most successful in the kitchen Bob’s makes me feel like I can bake anything that will taste well and not cause a small fire.
I would like to try the pie crust mix
I have the pie dough and love it
I am excited to try their GF Pie Crust. I make all my piecrusts from nuts and dates right now. But I would love to try a pie crust that is like what my grandmother used to make, except GF!! Thanks!
Super!!! 😀
I’m excited about any and all Bob’s Red Mill GF products because they test their products to be at least less that 10 ppm, and from what I understand, are usually less than 5 ppm (even better! The products are readily available at most local stores, making it easy to pick up and use. (So annoying that many brands these days are making exclusive deals with particular stores, forcing us with dietary restrictions to either go without or shop at 5 stores. Who has time for that! Glad Bob’s is still available at so many stores!)
The only trouble we bump into is that the products are all produced in a facility with tree nuts. Not a problem for our family directly, but a problem when we want to share with friends, many of who m are allergic to tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame.

Blueberry apple granola sounds delicious, but I also just love their teff flour (as a simple staple).
Bob’s Red Mill products have managed to find a permanent spot in my kitchen! My favorites are the quicy cooking oats, oat flour, and tapioca flour. <3
I’m looking forward to getting another go at that granola — rare to find a good gluten-free version. And I used to look so whistfully at Bob’s non-GF varieties, never thinking they’d get to a celiac-safe one.
The pie crust mix sounds awesome.
