I recently had a chance to taste test the new Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Puffs in Twisted Grilled Cheese and Sizzlin’ Hot Wings. This was a promotional opportunity from Blog Meets Brand – a community that puts bloggers together with brands looking to share news about new products. Rarely do I get opportunities to work with these big brands on gluten-free products, but as the marketplace shifts and more and more large brands make products suitable for celiacs like myself, I get an opportunity to promote their new products.

So why would I choose to promote Goldfish Puffs when I really can’t do dairy? And in a world where other bloggers and health-focused readers chastise so many of us for talking about “junk” food?
1) It’s a certified gluten-free product. They have done their job and worked hard to make the product celiac safe.
2) It’s Goldfish. C’mon, you know we’ve all missed these. While these are puffs, and have a different texture because they don’t have gluten – they’re still Goldfish at heart.

I never quite know how people are going to react when I post about products like these, but it was overwhelming the positive reactions about this.

“Ahhh Goldfish is one of the snacks I miss most since going off gluten. I will have to find these puffs!”

“A beam of sunshine straight from Heaven…GF goldfish crackers!!!”

I wanted to create a fun recipe that would be great for kids and adults – capturing the fun of the Goldfish brand. I decided to capitalize on the name “Twisted Grilled Cheese” and create a spin on a traditional gluten-free grilled cheese! I used about half a cup of Twisted Grilled Cheese, a slice of cheese, two slices of gluten-free bread (I used Udi’s new Rye Style Bread – available this fall), and butter or butter alternative to make the grilled cheese.

I smashed a small amount, 1/2 a cup or so, of the Puffs. They are easy to crush in your hands, or you can put into a plastic bag and smash with any kitchen utensil that can vent your frustrations out with.

Prepare your grilled cheese like normal. Butter one side of the bread and place it butter-side down in a hot pan. Place a slice of cheese on the side of the bread  not on the grill. Place a handful of the Puffs on top of the cheese. If you want it extra cheesy, you can place an additional slice of cheese on top of the crumbled Puffs. This will also help the Puffs stay in place when you flip the sandwich.

Once the first side is grilled to perfection, carefully flip onto the other side of the sandwich. Make sure that side also has butter on it, to create a delicious-looking grilled sandwich.

This creates a mega grilled cheese – cheese on cheese on cheese. It truly is a Twisted Grilled Cheese with the use of the Goldfish Puffs!

These gluten-free Puffs are also available in Sizzlin’ Hot Wings, and yes, there is real chicken inside these Puffs. I admit, it’s a little strange – but they’re pretty good! If I had to create a fun recipe for these, I think they would be GREAT as a gluten-free “breadcrumb” to coat chicken!

You can find these new Goldfish Puffs alongside the other Goldfish in the snack aisles of your favorite traditional grocery stores. Hopefully your store stocks the new flavors that you can try, but keep in mind there are 5 total flavors of gluten-free Puffs for your Goldfish-loving-heart!

Have you tried the newest flavors from Goldfish Puffs? What fun recipe would YOU create with these new certified gluten-free Goldfish?

**This post is sponsored by Blog Meets Brand, and Pepperidge Farm Goldfish Puffs is their client. I was compensated for this post and I was given free product. However, this doesn’t affect my opinion on the product. After all, these are Goldfish. C’mon**
