Gluten Free Cat Food Favorites

Erica Dermer, December 9, 2015December 9, 2015

My cats are shameless attention whores. Murphy is one of the most photogenic cats I’ve ever met with a huge personality to match. So many people feel like they know Murph from his Instagram hashtag #TerribleMurph. They’ve been featured in many of my sponsored campaigns and both are quite hams. Mushu is our very finicky Tortie princess – and she’s the reason why we have constantly been on the search for the best gluten-free cat food. She’s very picky about what she eats, unlike Murphy who will lick plates clean, regardless of the content. Here are a few of our favorite foods that we’ve found fit the likes of both Murphy and Mushu, in case you’re also looking for safe cat food for your gluten-free household.

Our Gluten Free Cat Food Favorites

FROMM FAMILY CAT FOOD –  We get the Game Bird but we’ve also used the Salmon Tunachovy. This is the best of the best. We love this cat food. I mean, read this “A grain-free entrée of duck, turkey, quail, pheasant, and real Wisconsin cheese with an assortment of fresh fruits & vegetables” C’mon, don’t you want to eat that? http://frommfamily.com/products/four-star/cat

PETCUREAN GO Limited Ingredient Duck Recipe – I received several samples from the PR company of Petcurean and my cats went bonkers. We were lucky enough to find the brand in our area, but not always the flavor profile we wanted. This is a very high-quality food. http://www.petcurean.com/for-cats/go/

I AND LOVE AND YOU – I got a sample of this at Expo West and before I really wanted to connect with this company (hey guys – call me!) I wanted to see if they liked it. Of course they did! I tried the Surf ‘N Chick, and since they sell it at Sprouts in my neighborhood, I think it’s a great alternative to our usuals. http://www.iandloveandyou.com/product-category/cat/<

B.F.F. BEST FELINE FOODS – Our cats are BFF addicts. Honestly, our life would have been easier if we never met this brand. But now that they know it’s a thing, we can’t stop Murphy from begging for it every night. BEGGING. He knows the sound that the pouch makes when we take it out of the cabinet. He knows the ding of our food dishes. Obsessed. If you are looking for wet food, try these first. http://www.bestfriendsfoods.com/

MUSE – I did a sponsored post with them, and the fur children seemed to like the grain free wet food.

I’ve been using Merrick Purrfect Bistro dry and some wet as well. Happy cats with good coats. I’ve also heard the ads recently for Iams say they are gluten free.
Cost is a factor, of course, so I wish you’d listed prices of the brands above. I chose Merrick because it was readily available in my area at pet supply stores and a moderate price. I buy the big bag, 12 pounds for approx $30-32 which is similar to Iams. Of course, if you can regularly find Iams coupons…
Grain free or not, always wash your hands well after handling cat food!!

I also feed my girl Merrick Purrfect Bistro. She really likes it, and she’s quite the healthy kitty. Her weight doesn’t fluctuate at all. Her coat is lovely. It used to be called “Before Grain.” I buy it on Amazon most of the time as it’s less expensive than going to PetCo.
