Vitacost Gluten-Free Cleaning

Clean Your Gluten-Free House Naturally with Vitacost

This post is sponsored by Vitacost and contains affiliate links. If you click on one of these banners or links, I get a small percentage of your sale. I use this money to pay for my website, as well as feed my cats expensive prescription cat food.

My house is gluten-free, yes. But is it clean? Sometimes. Sometimes when I find out that we have people coming over to watch a basketball game and then for like 3 hours I put on a bandana and become some sort of house cleaning avenger. Because let’s all be honest – your house is the most clean when you have people come over. We finally clean that cat vomit that happened sometime last week. We actually fold the laundry that’s been in the dryer for days. We actually mop the floors. MOP. THE. FLOORS. And we do a lot of dishes. Oh, and the toilet. Because let’s get real, I have IBS and I 100% need a clean toilet bowl to fool anyone who comes over.

But, I’m also super sensitive to cleaners. They give me massive headaches. I have a huge artificial fragrance sensitivity. I start sneezing uncontrollably and I feel like I can’t breathe. I’ve had to leave hotel rooms that were freshly cleaned because I just can’t handle traditional cleaners. Even Febreeze makes me insane. It’s supposed to remove smells, and all I smell is artificial awfulness and nausea. So, I have to be very careful about household cleaners. We haven’t used powerful cleaners (like the kind where they warn you to wear gloves and then if you get it in your eyes you’re totally blind). We already know that I have to use fragrance-free Molly’s Suds on my clothing because I get rashes from regular detergent. I’m….special.

Clean Your Gluten-Free House

Thankfully, I’ve teamed up with Vitacost so I can share my favorite natural cleaners with you. Cleaners and fragrances to clean your house, but won’t bombard you with chemical-heavy fragrances.

Vitacost Gluten-Free Cleaning

Some Of My Favorite Cleaning Products

Below I’ve outlined some of the products that are my favorite gluten-free cleaning products found on Vitacost. Just click on the image to be taken to the Vitacost page to order for yourself!

CLEANING HOUSE

Quick! Throw the dishes in the sink! Flush that toilet (seriously, who forgot to flush the toilet?!?!)! Hide the laundry! Someone is at the door!

The Clean Collection Toilet Bowl Cleaner – peppermint. I promise this peppermint scent is not offense at all! Clean your bowl!

The Clean Collection Laundry Stain Remover – Fragrance Free. Laundry stains? No problem! I sadly used this the other day – TWICE – while I was testing pizzas for an upcoming issue of the magazine. Pizza sauce + Lululemon? Not good. I used this and washed with Molly’s Suds and it was gone!

The Clean Collection – compostable bamboo paper towels. These are definitely not Viva paper towels, but I feel better about using them!

ECOS Dishmate – Fragrance Free. I love using this for dishes. My hands are always submerged into dirty dish water (with one growing boy – okay he’s 38, and two cats that eat wet food twice a day). I love this product!

WHAT STINKS?

I can’t deal with most room fresheners. They irritate my lungs, eyes, and skin. However, my house (also my home office and also a test kitchen) often smells funky. Example, I’ve been testing pizzas. One morning at 10am I was making 10, yes, 10 pizzas. I did not want my house to smell like a pizzeria. I opened up the doors and turned on a diffuser with essential oils. Be aware, some essential oils may irritate those with asthma, but so far, it’s the only smelly type of thing that doesn’t irritate me! I use them to make my house smell nice without being overpowering of “clean,” like some household cleaners.

NOW Faux Wood Grain Diffuser. The day that I put together this list of my favorite products for a gluten-free home, my diffuser broke. I had been eyeing this NOW faux wood grain diffuser at my Natural Grocers for a while, so it was fate that Vitacost sells this. It seems to last forever, much longer than my previous diffuser! It has a large tank, and also offers a nightlight option. Use with your favorite NOW essential oils!

NOW Essential Oils. I buy essential oils from NOW, as well as purchasing from my friends (that aren’t crazy – seriously, MLM sellers, stop being aggressive and awful) from Doterra and Young Living. When I’m looking for a specific scent, I buy the NOW oils because they are trustworthy!

KEEP IT CLEAN AND WASH THOSE HANDS

Everyone Hand Soap. I started buying this a few years ago and haven’t gone back since. Everyone Hand Soap is certified gluten-free, and comes in a variety of scents. I use the more citrus scents for the kitchen hand soap and the more fragrant soaps for the bathroom.

Sal Suds from Dr. Bronner’s. This biodegradable eco-friendly cleaner is so versatile. If you’re a fan of Dr. Bronner’s for literally everything (seriously, what doesn’t it do, it’s like the coconut oil of soap), then get Sal Suds that’s made specifically for diluting and cleaning.

Win With Vitacost

You can win all of these products, thanks to my collaboration with my amazing new sponsor, Vitacost. We had such a fun time last month, talking about all my overall favorite gluten-free products they sell on Vitacost. Yes, it included one of my favorite laundry cleaners, Molly’s Suds, which is why we didn’t include it in the promotion this month. These above products will help clean your gluten-free home, naturally, and make it smell fantastic – between all those attempts at gluten-free baking, and your booming pizzeria test kitchen (okay, maybe that’s just me).

You can win this whole collection to clean your gluten-free house naturally with Vitacost!

It’s hard to pick which product I’d most like to win….as someone with a digestive disease, I’m pretty excited about the idea of a nice fresh peppermint smell for my toilet bowl lol….but I’m also a klutz and can’t wear something for longer than 10 min without spilling something on it (usually food), so the laundry stain remover would be pretty convenient too! It’s a toss-up….

I’m most interested in trying the peppermint toilet bowl cleaner. I’ve never used scented bowl cleaner because I always worry about being allergic to the scent. I have hidradentitis suppirativa (non contagious auto immune skin disease) I have to be extremely careful with anything I sit on or get in close proximity to my skin.

Definitely the handsoaps, my children’s school uses soap that has gluten in it! They have to bring their own soap bottles and stash them all over the school. Bamboo towels are awesome, and refills on essential oils are always appreciated!

I would love this! I know I react to “traditional” cleaners (sneezing like crazy, stuffed up all day, headache, etc.) but haven’t pinpointed why. Perhaps it’s the fragrance. It would make sense since I react to perfumes. Any recommendations for alternatives for that, aside from dabbing pure essential oils on yourself?
