CAMPAIGN HASHTAGS: #NaturalGoodness #CollectiveBias
As part of a Collective Bias campaign, I found myself at Walmart shopping for Tom’s of Maine products for an Earth Day campaign. I was more than happy to work on a campaign with Tom’s of Maine. Why? Because it’s a great company. Check out why I think Tom’s of Maine rocks below:
- There are no gluten ingredients used in Tom’s of Maine products – including the toothpastes and deodorants that I highlighted in this post.
- They have no animal testing and no animal ingredients used in the products.
- They actually list all of their ingredients in any easy-to-find chart. Curious on what witch hazel is and what it does? Easy. Want to find the source of Acacia gum? Done.
- Want to know what Tom’s of Maine is up to? Check out their Goodness Report on sustainability, ingredients, waste, water usage and more.
- They even have a DIY blog that has some pretty useful posts like making your own vanilla, and how to sew your own reusable napkins.
The theme of the campaign is “Start Young. Live Green™. Make every day Earth Day, starting at the bathroom sink.” If you know me, you know that this campaign resonated with me because I’m a hippie trapped in a corporate america business body. I love natural products (yes, I’m one of those people that wear natural deodorant), and buy organic. Whole Foods is my best friend. I truly believe that Earth Day is a day that we can focus on the benefits of living green for us, and for the earth (and every living thing on the planet). I wish I was more aware of reducing my waste, reusing products, and recycling earlier – so starting early is something I would love to see happen in schools, at home, and in mass retailers. It floors me that some communities don’t have even the basics of recycling available! And what matters even more to me is reducing chemical usage in and on our bodies! We already avoid gluten, so why not do our bodies the favor and detox the products we use every day. This Earth Day I’m taking the pledge to keep green in my home and on my body, and I suggest you do the same!
I purchased Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry™ Fluoride Toothpaste, Antiplaque & Whitening Peppermint Fluoride-Free Toothpaste, Whole Care® Peppermint and Spearmint Fluoride Toothpaste, and Unisex Long Lasting Apricot Deodorant (men can wear apricot too!). I found these products easily in the Health & Beauty aisles at Walmart. Tom’s of Main deodorant were on the bottom shelf along with other “natural” products – although Tom’s was the clear winner. For those of you that don’t wear a natural deodorant, PLEASE consider switching and get those harsh chemicals out of your armpits! We were meant to sweat as humans (although we can help mask some of the odor caused by sweating with products like this)! Make your body routine as natural as possible with natural products like Tom’s of Maine.
The toothpaste was in the oral health aisle in Health & Beauty section at Walmart. Tom’s of Maine actually had two child-friendly toothpastes available to purchase. The Silly Strawbery really tastes like the pureed fruit inside! Something that’s important for a lot of moms out there – this is DYE FREE! My Non-GFBF prefers the WHOLE CARE with Flouride, and I use the ANTIPLAQUE and WHITENING because you know how much I love my coffee, tea, and wine that naturally stain my teeth. Remember, you absorb anything in the oral mucosa, which is important that you get a GLUTEN FREE toothpaste and one without a bunch of yucky chemicals.
Another great thing is that you can find Tom’s of Maine products anywhere – which is an easier way of greening your bath & beauty routine.
You can celebrate #NaturalGoodness along with ME and with Tom’s of Maine and Walmart by clicking this link to receive a $1.00 coupon for the products above!
What are YOU doing for Earth Day? In the comments below – name one thing you hope to green this year – either reducing waste, reusing items, recycling, or greening your bath & beauty routine. One lucky commenter will receive a gift in the mail from Celiac and the Beast!

I am greening my showers this year, making them shorter #TheStruggle
I would like to work on cutting down buying so many cases of water bottles.
I’m planning only to use herbs out of my own garden this summer for some literal
being-more-green; but I’m also replacing my lighting at my desk in my flat with the bloody neatest solar powered lamp.
Fun to see you working with Tom’s!
I am going more green by reducing the food waste I produce. I am now portioning out food when I get home from the food store and putting what will be more than I can eat in a few days in the freezer right away.
On Earth Day I will be giving a talk to school kids about Zero Waste. I plan to continue reducing what might otherwise go in a landfill. P.S. I agree Toms is great. I already used it pre-diagnosis, so I was SO happy to learn it was GF. And then my husband switched over to Tom’s as well.
Ooh thanks! This Earth Day I’ll drop by the Earth Day celebration in my town. This is the 1st year the local herb shop is having an event (as far as I know). I’ll probably drop by the local park for a walk (Nickerson State Park).
I want to reduce waste by buying items made with recycled materials or that have easily recyclable packaging.
I will continue to recycle and reuse as much as I can in my household.
I am getting rid of all plastic storage containers and moving to glass for food and leftovers
I think it’s great that Tom’s of Maine products are gluten-free, so they work for your family! #client
