Review and Giveaway: Catify to Satisfy by Jackson Galaxy

If you have a cat, like cats, or dislike cats – chances are you know Jackson Galaxy or his hit show, My Cat From Hell.

He just launched a book in November entitled “Catify to Satisfy: Simple Design Solutions for Creating a Feline-Friendly Home.” I received a copy from his PR agency to take a glance. Since you know we have one out-of-control feline (and one saintly one), I figured it would be a worthwhile read.

Catify to Satisfy

This book is a must-read for any cat owners.

If you’ve seen his TV show, you know that he basically comes in, assesses the situation, and finds ways to make the cat happy, and thus the family happy. These makeovers generally revolve around creating DIY and crafty ideas to make the cat feel more at home and part of the family, without changing too much in the family’s lives.

This book covers Base Camp: cocooning vs. caving, scratching solutions, everything litter boxes (the good, the bad, the ugly – you know what I mean), and cat vertical superhighways – the main chunk of the book. It’s FULL of inspirational ideas on how to create a cat paradise for your fur child without destroying your home – in fact, it might even increase the aesthetics! But you don’t have to go to high-end pet stores and buy something massive. You can create your own solutions, using things you find from a Goodwill or thrift store. I got so many good ideas from this book. It’s a mix of cat psychology and DIY building.

As a bonus, supporting Jackson Galaxy supports the Jackson Galaxy Foundation, a nonprofit organization with the mission of improving the lives of sheltered animals by transforming the places they live and by helping the people who care for them. That’s right, at the end of the book you can see how he transforms shelters to make the cats feel more at home while they wait to become adopted. When you give to the foundation, or purchase from the foundation, your donation goes to improving shelters. They believe that animals should be happy while waiting to find their forever home.

My cat’s name is Lyla, and she is my baby. I am always interested in learning more about cat behavior and how to keep my kitty from scratching my favorite chair (she knows it’s my favorite, so she scratches it to wake me up in the morning. Doesn’t stop until I get up and feed her….smart kitty)

I really enjoyed this book. I gifted it to several cat parent friends. Even a veteran cat parent will get some wonderful ideas from this book.

I have 2 cats. Both were “adopted” as strays by my Great Dane. They followed him in the house and he was happy.

I love Jackson and would love to win this book! I am a Qigong healer who works on cats, dogs… and having his words of wisdom in a book would be so helpful for me to share with others. One day I’ll be a proud owner of a kitten again.

I have three cats; Leonardo – a rescued prince of pusses, an extremely fluffy and fierce tuxedo, Doppelgänger – a (fixed!) feral that over the course of three years we have lured inside, called Doppelgänger because his face markings are the same as Leonardo’s, and Tyler another tuxedo about 9 months old rescued from the street. I want to build more high up places for them because they are all climbers!
