If you know me, you know I love carbs. And I love bagels. This was a thing way before I had celiac. I used to go to Einstein’s Bagels ALL. THE. TIME. And when they opened up one at our Memorial Union at Arizona State University, I was there almost every day. Bagel and cream cheese? Yeah. Bagel sandwich? Yes. Breakfast bagel? Oh hell yeah.
So when I was diagnosed as a celiac, I thought my life would be totally different. Well, the bagels sure are different, but my love of them is still thriving. While I love Canyon Bakehouse bagels, they are totally different than the bagels that I used to eat – those boiled bagels. But, after a trip to Portland Oregon, I found something that finally satisfied that craving for a particular type of carb.
MY SOUL FOR A GLUTEN-FREE BAGEL
New Cascadia has THE BEST GLUTEN-FREE BAGELS on the planet. Hands down. I’ve tried all the bagels on the plant (that are gluten-free and dairy-free) and these are the best. However, they’re in Oregon. Are you in Oregon? Probably not (based on my Google analytics of who is reading my blog), and I know that I don’t live in Oregon (although I visit Portland at least twice a year).
Order New Cascadia Traditional Bread and Bagels
Every trip I take to Portland, I smuggle bagels in my suitcase and keep them frozen for when I was in need.
Unfortunately at this time, you’ll need to take a trip to Portland, OR to enjoy these gluten-free bagels. However, you can visit New Cascadia Traditional online store Ship Gluten Free to purchase other gluten-free breads. I highly recommend their other breads – their rustic Italian and baguettes are the best. They also make a hell of a challah bread!
Gluten-Free Portland, OR Restaurants
Definitely put Portland on your Gluten-Free Travel list. It’s my favorite place in the US to visit for gluten-free food.
